The Torium is Shimano’s flagship star drag multiplier range with a mid-range price. The lightweight, compact construction and high speed gear of 6.2:1 enable you can use the Torium for a wide range of methods including jigging, bottom fishing and even casting large lures and leads.
If you’re in the market for a reliable and high performing small multiplier reel from Shimano, the Torium is a great option and offers exceptional versatility across a wide range of fishing methods. Available in both left and right-hand wind options, the quick retrieve is great if you are a deep water or jig fishing fan, with more than enough strength to overcome the largest of bottom dwellers. Alternatively you can pair it with a lighter rod for slow pitch jigging or even casting with larger lures and leads.
As soon as you hold the Torium you can feel the manufacturing quality produced by the lightweight HAGANE Body. It feels solid and strong, whilst also being very compact thanks to the S Compact body design. In fact its visual size belies the power and line capacity of this perfectly formed super fast multiplier. With a gear ratio of 6.2:1, all but the smallest 14 size retrieves well over 1 metre of line per turn. Using large Cross Carbon Drag washers, adjusted by the Star Drag, the Torium packs a minimum of 11kg of drag into its tiny frame, making it a match for all but the very largest pelagic fish.

Hagane Body
The HAGANE Body is a metal reel body with high rigidity. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminates body flexing. The result transforms the angler’s actions directly into cranking power. It’s efficiency through strength.
Super Stopper
Super Stopper anti-reverse uses a one-way stainless steel roller bearing that eliminates back-play. This provides the angler with instant hook setting power.
HEGM
HEG consists of not only the gears, but also the frame, back-plate, and handle-side side plate. First Shimano increased the size of the drive gear and the pinion gear to offer increased leverage and power. By using a one-piece frame that incorporates the back-plate and adding a one-piece stamped side plate, they have eliminated flex in the drive train that causes gears to bind under pressure.
ARB
These stainless steel ball bearings are specially treated to drastically increase the corrosion resistance of the bearing. These bearings will last at least 10 times longer than standard stainless steel ball bearings in high salinity environments.
